Sir David Hempleman-Adams, KCVO, OBE, KSTJ, DL
I have decided to dedicate this page in honour of Sir David Hempleman-Adams, local man with many achivements under his belt but still has time on occasion to fly from Bath.
Bath Parks played host to Mr David Hempleman Adams & Chef Adam Byatt in front of the Royal Crescent, for the Gastronomic Adventure initiative winners who won a 'once in a lifetime' experience for two. They were treated to a sumptuous meal, persoally cooked for them by Adam aboard the iconic G, H, Mumm hot air balloon. Byatt is chef patron of London's acclaimed Trinity and Bistro Union restaurants and a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen and Masterchef.
Emrys & Bunny Harries from Hampshire were the competition winners and were in safe hands, as the balloon was due to be piloted by David Hempleman-Adams who, in addition to climbing the highest peaks on all seven continents and trekking to both poles, has also flown a balloon across the top of the world.
Unfortunately due to poor weather conditions the flight did not take off. and it was planned to happen later on. Emrys & Bunny however, were treated to an evening meal in the georgian setting, in the company of Mr David Hempleman-Adams. Following this the balloon was displayed tethererd and the couple took the opportunity to get on board the balloon.
