Farming on the Plain - continued!

Durrington Down Farm near Stonehenge -28.07.22

These photographs were taken this week at Durrington Down Farm near Fargo on Salisbury Plain.  This farm, which stretches out to the edge of Stonehenge, is farmed by Sarah and Ian Baxter.

Silage Making at Ablington Farm - 23.05.22

The Rawlins Family are busy making silage between heavy showers of rain.

These photographs taken in the last week, show how the Farmers on Salisbury Plain, maintain and restore the grass downland.  They rely on this land to get a crop of hay and silage each year.

The piece of land shown in the photographs was a World War 2 airfield.  The land is grazed in plots with a suckler herd, using a mobile penning system of electric fencing.  The land being grass downland, is also subject to conservation.
25.04.22 - Rape Field, Salisbury Plain

I managed to photograph this beautiful field of rape today.  This is the best field I have seen on my travels.
Titan™ Series Floaters - 26.08.21

These photographs were taken this evening at Durrington Down Farm near Fargo, on Salisbury Plain.

The contractor was busy on the farm, fertilizing the land ready for next years harvest.  It is thought that this machine from America, is the only one of its type in the country.

Case IH Titan™ Series floater chassis and applicators are built to handle the tough demands of changing terrain while accurately applying fertilizer and chemicals, season after season.  A titan floater can be customised with your choice of 3- or 4-wheel configurations, single or multiple bins, tanks, boom widths and variable-rate application technologies to fit your needs.

Titan floaters feature Power Management, which allows operators to match speed to conditions for optimum performance.

Titan floaters include the Surveyor cab, which delivers high-level comfort for more hours on the job.  HID lighting in the hood and four lights to the rear of the cab roof allow you to finish the job after nightfall.

fibrophos PK fertiliser – Phosphate and Potash fertiliser

Grassland, cereals, oilseed rape, peas, beans and potatoes have all been shown to thrive on fibrophos PK Phosphate and Potash fertiliser fed soils.  Extensive trials show fibrophos to be a most effective source of P and K across the whole farm.

Raises Phosphate and Potash indices

fibrophos PK Fertiliser raises the soil Phosphate and Potash indices on the poorest land and packs the soil again with all the other nutrients that are needed by the growing crop, except Nitrogen. The immediate effect is increased yields across a much more productive, well-fed acreage.
